The world has become a place where the spirit to compete and excel play a dominant role. It is not enough then to perform academically well. An all-round personality development plays a major factor in the personal and professional success of an individual.
The Narbheram Hansraj English School thus strives to instil in its students the confidence and courage, which would stand them in good stead in the future. All opportunities have been generated for them to participate in a plethora of extra-curricular activities and discover and hone their talent. The students too have proved their mettle in the various competitions and quizzes, where they have represented the school. Be it at the intra-school or inter-school level; debate, recitation or elocution contests, the students of NHES come out with flying colours.
The Interact Club members collected Rs 30,000 for flood victims in July 2008. They also sold Rakhis (worth Rs 1100) and Diyas made by the children of School of Hope to raise funds towards this good cause.
The Interactors played an active role in fund raising for Cancer patients, a campaign conducted by the Rotary Club.
Subarna Chakraborty of Std XII ‘C’ and Rahul Prajapati of Std IX ‘B’ bagged the 1st and 2nd prizes respectively for Poster Making at a Safety Camp organised by Basera in April 2008.
At a T-Shirt painting contest held at Symbiosis in August 2008, Kashyapi Karan (Std II ‘D’) and Prasenjit Thakur (Std XII ‘A’), together bagged the 1st prize. The programme was hosted by Loyola School, Jamshedpur.
It was a proud moment for NHES and the Steel City, when the students of NHES not only participated in the International Budo-Kan Karate Do Championship, held in Sri Lanka on September 21st-22nd, 2008, but also won laurels at the championship.

The achievement of these students, paved the path for the Indian team to win the Best Participating Country Award.
Adding another feather to NHES’ cap was Neel Sengupta of Std XII ‘A’. Neel won the zonal and regional rounds of the Outlook Speak-Out Debate Contest at Jamshedpur and Kolkata. Gifted with outstanding writing and oratory skills, Neel then represented his school in the final round held at Delhi, in September 2008 where he was awarded a certificate by none other than Omar Abdullah and the former President of India, Dr A P J Abdul Kalam.
The students of NHES always manage to shine wherever they go, as may be seen at the Rhapsody held at Loyola School in the month of October 2008. Kashyapi Karan and Swati shared the 1st position in the Kurta Designing contest and Prasenjit Thakur and Rahul Prajapati, together bagged the 1st prize in Thermocol Painting.
Be it cultural contests or academics, NHES comes out with flying colours! Neel Sengupta and Abhinandan Biswas participated and won the ASICS Creative Writing Contest zonal round, held at Jamshedpur and hosted by NHES. They then represented their school in the final round at Methodist School, Dankuni and Kolkata, where Neel clinched the 1st position.
